Isaac Hayes (apodado Black Moses) es uno de los grandes de la historia de la música negra, un artista imprescindible para comprender su evolución, que grabó algunos de los temas más memorables de soul y funk,
Dos de las mejores tomas disco de Ike - 'Zeke the Freak', con su línea de bajo ultra funky y el zumbido 'Shaft II' - actúan como adrenalina para las pistas más lentas aquí;
También es optimista el inspirador 'Si alguna vez necesitáramos amor'. El resto de las canciones son elementos lentos y románticos, con los raps tradicionales de Ike insertados en los lugares correctos. Le agrega un golpe al comienzo de 'Just the Way You Are' de Billy Joel, lo frena a un ritmo de hora pico y lo agota por cada gota de emoción que pueda; utiliza la misma técnica en 'Believe in Me' y la mejor actuación: una interpretación lenta y sincera de 'Don't Let Me Be Lonely Tonight' de James Taylor.
