With her third record, Joan developed a style that would distinguish her as a unique, feminine voice in rock. An incurable romantic with an islander's ear for melodies on the wind, she (like Joni Mitchell) migrated from folk rock to electric rock to new wave during her career even while her perspective on love remained unchanged.
