El álbum no fue lanzado en los Estados Unidos, pero fue en México, Reino Unido, Canadá, Nueva Zelanda, Alemania, Italia, España, India, Japón, Corea del Sur y Australia. En Australia, el álbum fue un gran éxito, pasando siete semanas en el número uno. Alcanzó el número 17 en el Reino Unido.
Nunca se ha lanzado oficialmente en disco compacto.
La portada de "Patrick" (John Byrne) a menudo se cita incorrectamente como una posible portada de álbum para The Beatles ("The White Album"); sin embargo, fue creado originalmente para The Beatles Illustrated Lyrics de Alan Aldridge
A pesar de una duración de casi una hora, la edición en vinilo de este lanzamiento solo ha estado disponible como un solo LP, en lugar de como un conjunto doble como a veces se supone.
